Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision
The successful completion of the programme enables candidates to take the Supervisor and Manager CSCS Health and Safety test and if successful, qualify for a Gold CSCS Card. Candidates successfully completing the Highways and Repairs option are eligible to apply via the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) for registration as Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) with the Engineering Council.

Eligibility
This programme is designed for those starting out in a supervisory role, first line supervisors or for assistant site managers within the construction industry.
Assessment
Competence is assessed by ongoing assessments against the NVQ standards relating to specific areas of supervision, which include:
·Health, Safety & Welfare
·Planning
·Physical resource management
·Implementing work
·Monitoring and control
·Managing teams and individuals
·Working relationships
Candidates must prove competence in 14 units, which will depend on the NVQ they are the following.
Provision of Assessment
Candidates will be allocated an assessor who acts as mentor and guide throughout the programme. The programme will include an induction day which relates to the overall course and provides guidance on how the NVQ is formulated and presented. In addition candidates will attend for briefing and assessment for each of the units at Gates MacBain offices.
One or two site visits by the assessor will also be required during the period of the programme.

There is the option for additional training days at £65 per day relating to:

Duration
It is normal for candidates to complete the programme in approximately 12 months, although it is possible to do so in a shorter period. Extensions can be negotiated, although this will incur an additional fee of £40 per hour for any additional assessment time.
Fees
Programme fees of £1520 includes NVQ registration, mentoring, briefing meetings and assessment. The fee includes mileage for site visits up to 40 miles from Gates MacBain’s premises, any mileage greater than this will incur a charge of 40p per mile. In the event of the assessor needing to arrange overnight accommodation, these will be payable; any costs for this will be agreed prior to the visit.
Grants for this programme may be payable from the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).
Funding for this programme may be available through Train to Gain or Adult Apprenticeship provision.
